The Greenock Ledger is a small journal and collects little. This notice says what the journal and its hosting see of readers, and what readers can do about it.

What is collected

The journal publishes static pages. It sets no advertising cookies, runs no analytics scripts of its own and operates no accounts for readers. The only personal data the journal receives is what a reader chooses to send to its published contact address, and correspondence is kept only as long as the conversation needs it.

Hosting and server records

The site is delivered through Cloudflare's network and its underlying hosting, which process technical request logs, including internet addresses, as part of delivering any website. Those records exist to serve pages, resist abuse and diagnose faults, are held under the provider's own policies and are not used by this journal to profile readers.

Cookies and third parties

The journal's own pages load no third party trackers, advertising networks or social embeds. Images are served from the journal's own address. Any external link, for example to a public body cited as a source, takes the reader to that body's site and its own practices.

Mail

Letters to the contact address are read by the editorial desk and used for the purposes sent: story tips, corrections and questions. The journal does not sell, rent or trade correspondence, and does not add correspondents to any mailing list.

Rights and choices

Readers in the United Kingdom and the European Union have rights over personal data, including access, correction and deletion, under the data protection framework that applies to them. Requests about anything the journal itself holds can be sent to the published contact address, and anything held only by its providers sits under those providers' processes, which their own policies describe.
